Can I reuse my Opal™ Prefilled Whitening Trays with Whitening Gel Refills?
No. Opal™ Prefilled Whitening Trays are designed for one-time use. Once you’ve finished brightening your smile with your trays, go ahead and discard them.
Is this the same product that I get from my dentist?
No, Opal™ by Opalescence® Whitening Gel features a different formulation from the product you buy from your dentist.
If you still have questions, we recommend visiting your dentist for a pre-whitening consultation to choose the professional option that best fits your needs.
Can I use this product with LED/UV lights for better results?
No. Current research shows that carbamide peroxide (the whitening agent used in Opal™ by Opalescence® teeth whitening gel) or hydrogen peroxide (the whitening agent used in Opal™ by Opalescence® pre-filled whitening trays) are effective in whitening teeth. Light activation adds no additional benefit.1 In fact, some research shows that using a light for whitening can be harmful to lips and gums.2
Can I use Opal™ teeth whitening products with crowns, veneers, fillings or other dental work?
Yes! It’s safe to use our teeth whitening products on both natural and unnatural tooth surfaces. Our unique formulations will not affect the color or shade of a crown, veneer, implant, filling or tooth restoration. But, you can use our products to whiten your natural teeth to better match your dental work.
If you are whitening your teeth before a bonding procedure, talk to your dentist. We recommend avoiding any whitening treatments for 7–10 days before a bonding procedure.3-5
